The leaves are falling, the sun is setting earlier, and another half term week is upon us. There are loads of fun things to do up and down the UK from museums and hikes to theme parks and picnics. Whatever you choose to keep your offspring busy during the school break, if you do it with Virgin Red you’ll be earning points to put towards rewards big (a family trip to Orlando) and small (a case of Virgin Wines for the adults). Whatever you do, do it together.

Choose day outs via train

Exploring new horizons doesn’t have to mean travelling a great distance, especially as there are so many incredible places to explore here in the UK. Cities like Liverpool, Bristol, and Manchester are great choices if you want to spend a day snapping historic buildings, shopping for goodies, and eating out.

Make sure you purchase your train tickets through the Virgin Trains Ticketing app to earn points on any journey from any station across the nation.

See the sights with the family

Half term is a great time to do some sightseeing, and for less than 20,000 points, the entire family can experience the most popular tourist attraction in the UK.

Over the course of the 30-minute experience, lastminute.com’s London Eye gives visitors amazing 360 views of London’s most famous landmarks and on a clear day you’ll be high enough to see up to 40km. Nab tickets via Virgin Experience Days for two adults and a child for 17,500 points.

Visit museums

There are thousands of museums in the UK and many of them are perfect for families. The Story Museum in Oxford is a fun, magical and interactive museum based on stories for younger children, while Turing’s Natural History Museum displays one of the best collections of stuffed animals, reptiles and insects in the country. Another great day out is Young V&A in Bethnal Green, a museum designed for playing and creating.

Trains to London, Turing and Oxford are widely accessible, all with the chance to earn Virgin Points with Virgin Trains Ticketing.

Toys for toddlers

While the big kids focus on days out and fun things to do, it’s important to keep the tots entertained, too. LEGO has been delighting children and adults alike for decades, and their Duplo range as well as LEGO sets are perfect activities for toddlers. Better yet, you’ll earn up to up to 2 points for every £1 spent.

Have a ball in Aberdovey

Located Gwynedd, Aberdovey/Aberdyfi is a bustling Welsh seaside town with award-winning beaches are perfect for family fun as well as relaxation. It’s also known for hosting sailboarding competitions, rowing regattas and other watersports events in the summer. And it’s all accessible from the Aberdovey station less than a mile from the main centre - another opportunity to earn up to three Virgin Points per £1 with Virgin Trains Ticketing.

And finally, a treat for kids big and small

After a long week of activities you deserve something nice to end the week, and for just 200 points you can bag a Greggs muffin or doughnut. Sweet!
